Cinque Terre & Vernazza: A Heritage Between Sky and Sea

Distance from Hotel: Approx. 70 km (reachable in about 1 hour by car or, highly recommended, by train from Viareggio station).

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the Cinque Terre is a land where wild nature and human labor merge in a unique embrace. Eighteen kilometers of rocky coastline, enchanted bays, and villages perched above the sea will offer you breathtaking views.

The Five Enchanted Villages:

  • Monterosso al Mare: The largest village, known for its welcoming beaches and fragrant lemon groves.
  • Vernazza: Considered by many to be the most charming, with its protected natural harbor and pastel-colored houses overlooking the square.
  • Corniglia: The only village not in direct contact with the sea, perched on a cliff and surrounded by stunning terraced vineyards.
  • Manarola: Famous for its colorful tower-houses and the world’s largest light-up nativity scene (during the winter season).
  • Riomaggiore: A charming village that descends steeply towards a small harbor nestled among the rocks.

A Unique Landscape:

The National Park is characterized by typical terraces cultivated with vines and olive trees, supported by miles of ancient dry-stone walls. For hiking enthusiasts, a dense network of paths and mule tracks connects the villages, offering spectacular views of the Ligurian Sea and the Marine Protected Area.
